between North American and Guangxi isolates were 0.002 ± 0.002 SE, 0.034 ± 0.004 SE, and 0.019 ± 0.003 SE, respectively (Figure). Our findings highlight the possibility that APV has been recently introduced by wild waterfowl in the Northern Hemisphere into domestic mallard ducks. Further study is needed to determine the pathogenicity of this virus on other commercial poultry species and its influence on the poultry industry and wildlife protection.

Acute respiratory distress syndrome associated with scrub typhus: diffuse alveolar damage without pulmonary vasculitis.

Pathologic findings of scrub typhus have been characterized by vasculitis of the microvasculature of the involved organ resulting from a direct invasion by Orientia tsutsugamushi. We experienced a case of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) associated with scrub typhus. The case was proven by eschar and high titer of serum IgM antibody (positive at 1:1280). Open lung biopsy showed diffus...

This criteria requires invasive arterial sampling. Measurement of Spo2/Fio2 (SF) ratio by pulseoximetry may be a reliable non invasive alternative to the PF ratio.   Methods and Materials: In a cross sectional study we enrolled 105 sample o...
